This half-day tour takes you to two of the most fascinating destinations in the Sacred Valley of the Incas: Moray, an ancient Inca agricultural laboratory, and the Maras Salt Mines, a collection of over 3,000 salt pools exploited since pre-Inca times. It’s the perfect excursion for travelers with limited time who want to explore the agricultural and mining ingenuity of the Incas, surrounded by spectacular landscapes.
Moray impresses with its perfectly designed circular terraces, which created microclimates to grow crops at different altitudes. The salt mines offer a striking visual contrast, with their stepped pools reflecting sunlight to create a breathtaking landscape. In just a few hours, this tour connects you with the ancestral wisdom of the Andes.
📅 Itinerary
We pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. to start our journey north to the Sacred Valley. After about 1.5 hours, we arrive at the archaeological site of Moray, where you’ll have time to explore its concentric terraces and learn about its agricultural purpose during the Inca Empire.
Next, we head to the picturesque town of Maras, known for its colonial doorways and panoramic views of the valley. From there, we descend to the famous Maras Salt Mines, where you’ll learn about the traditional salt extraction process and have free time for photos and purchasing local products.
After the visit, we return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 1:30 p.m., enriched by a short yet cultural and memorable experience.
