Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca, is one of the most stunning and surreal landscapes in Peru. Located over 5,000 meters above sea level, this natural wonder has become a must-visit destination thanks to its unique beauty, where the mountain’s minerals create colorful stripes that look as if they were painted by hand.
This full-day tour is perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photography enthusiasts. The hike can be challenging due to the altitude, but the panoramic views, fresh mountain air, and direct contact with the Peruvian Andes make every step worth it.
📅 Itinerary
We start early with hotel pickup between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. We travel by tourist transport for about 3 hours to the town of Cusipata, where you’ll enjoy a local breakfast.
We then continue for about 1 more hour to Chillihuani, the starting point of the hike. From here, we walk for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes until we reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain, at 5,036 meters above sea level. Along the way, you’ll see llamas, alpacas, and breathtaking highland scenery.
Once at the top, you’ll have free time to rest, take photos, and appreciate the spectacular natural surroundings. We then descend along the same path, take our transport back to Cusipata for lunch, and finally return to Cusco, arriving between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
