The ATV tour to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) offers an exciting and unique way to reach one of Peru’s most iconic landscapes. Unlike the traditional trekking route, this adventure shortens the walking time and adds a dose of adrenaline, riding through high-Andean trails surrounded by stunning natural scenery.
Perfect for travelers who want to avoid long hikes or simply seek a more active and thrilling experience, this tour lets you admire the majestic colors of the mountain with less physical effort — and with the added bonus of living a one-of-a-kind adventure in the Andes.
📅 Itinerary
Your day begins early with hotel pickup between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., heading south of Cusco in a tourist vehicle. After about 3 hours, we arrive in the village of Japura, where you’ll enjoy a light breakfast.
Following breakfast, you’ll receive a safety briefing and basic driving instructions. Then, we hop on the ATVs and begin the ride toward the nearest point to Vinicunca. The ATV journey lasts about 1 hour, crossing Andean landscapes with views of snow-capped mountains, streams, and llamas grazing freely.
Upon reaching the final vehicle-accessible point, we take a light hike of about 40 minutes to the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, located over 5,000 meters above sea level. You’ll have time to rest, take photos, and admire this stunning natural wonder.
We then hike back to the ATVs and return to the starting point for lunch. Finally, we board the tourist vehicle back to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
