🗓️ Day 1: Cusco – Km 82 – Wayllabamba
We will pick you up early from your hotel and transfer you to Km 82 (Piscacucho), the starting point of the trek. After meeting the team of porters, cooks, and your guide, we begin walking along the Urubamba River, visiting the archaeological site of Llaqtapata. After lunch, we continue to the Wayllabamba campsite, where we spend our first night.
Distance: approx. 11 km | Campsite altitude: 3,000 m (9,842 ft)
🗓️ Day 2: Wayllabamba – Warmiwañusca – Pacaymayo
The most challenging day of the trek. We ascend through high Andean landscapes until we reach the highest point of the route: Warmiwañusca Pass (4,215 m / 13,828 ft), known as “Dead Woman’s Pass.” We then descend to the Pacaymayo Valley to set up camp.
Distance: approx. 12 km | Maximum altitude: 4,215 m (13,828 ft)
🗓️ Day 3: Pacaymayo – Runkurakay – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna
This is the most beautiful and diverse day of the trek. We visit the archaeological sites of Runkurakay, Sayacmarca, and Phuyupatamarca, passing through lush cloud forests and original Inca stone paths. We finally descend to Wiñay Wayna, one of the most impressive complexes on the trail, where we camp for the last night.
Distance: approx. 15 km | Campsite altitude: 2,650 m (8,694 ft)
🗓️ Day 4: Wiñay Wayna – Inti Punku – Machu Picchu – Cusco
We start before sunrise to walk the final stretch toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where we get our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu. We then descend for a 2-hour guided tour of the Inca citadel. Later, we take the bus down to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Ollantaytambo, followed by a transfer to Cusco, arriving at night.
