Humantay Lake, located over 4,200 meters above sea level and surrounded by the imposing Salkantay and Humantay snow-capped peaks, is one of the most breathtaking natural destinations near Cusco. Its turquoise waters and dramatic mountain scenery make it a magical spot, perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and photography enthusiasts.
This full-day tour is ideal for those who want to experience the Andes without committing to a multi-day trek. The hike to the lake is moderate and offers spectacular views at every step, making it one of the must-do tours during your visit to Cusco.
📅 Itinerary
We begin the day with hotel pickup in Cusco between 4:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., then travel by tourist transport for approximately 3 hours to the town of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a local breakfast.
We continue by vehicle to Soraypampa (3,900 m.a.s.l.), the starting point of the hike. From here, we begin an ascent of about 1 hour and 30 minutes (depending on the group’s pace) to reach the stunning Humantay Lake, located over 4,200 m.a.s.l. Along the way, you’ll have panoramic views of the Salkantay Glacier and high-Andean landscapes that will take your breath away.
Upon arrival, you’ll have free time to rest, take photos, and absorb the serene energy of the place. We then return on foot to Soraypampa, take our transport back to Mollepata for lunch, and finally head back to Cusco, arriving between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
