Inca Jungle to Machu Picchu – 4 Days / 3 Nights

📌 Summary description of the tour

The 4-day Inca Jungle Trek is one of the most adventurous and dynamic routes to reach Machu Picchu, perfect for travelers seeking both excitement and nature in a single journey. This unique experience combines adventure sports such as mountain biking, rafting, and ziplining with hikes along ancient Inca trails, crossing high jungle, tropical plantations, and local communities.

Along the way, you will have the chance to relax in the Cocalmayo hot springs, take part in cultural experiences, and finally arrive at Machu Picchu via a less conventional yet equally magical route. It’s an ideal choice for young travelers, adventure lovers, and sports enthusiasts looking for a different experience in Cusco.

🗓️ Day 1: Cusco – Abra Málaga – Santa María (Biking and optional rafting)
We depart early from Cusco (around 6:00 a.m.) toward Abra Málaga (4,300 m / 14,108 ft), where the biking adventure begins. We descend for about 2 to 3 hours into the high jungle, enjoying breathtaking landscapes.

Upon arrival in Santa María (1,200 m / 3,937 ft), we have lunch and rest. In the afternoon, you may choose to go rafting on the Vilcanota River (Class III–IV, optional). Dinner and overnight at a local guesthouse.

🗓️ Day 2: Santa María – Santa Teresa (Jungle trek and Inca trails)
After breakfast, we start a 7 to 8-hour hike along trails surrounded by lush vegetation, tropical fruits, waterfalls, and sections of the ancient Inca Trail. Lunch is served in a local home along the route.

In the afternoon, we arrive in Santa Teresa, where you can relax in the famous Cocalmayo hot springs. Dinner and overnight in a basic guesthouse.

🗓️ Day 3: Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes (Optional zipline)
In the morning, you can choose to go ziplining (optional activity) or continue walking directly to Hidroeléctrica, where the group meets for lunch.

From there, we walk for about 3 hours along the railway to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town). Overnight in a hotel, with dinner included and a final briefing for the Machu Picchu visit.

🗓️ Day 4: Machu Picchu – Return to Cusco
Early in the morning, we take the bus up to Machu Picchu for a 2-hour guided tour of the Inca citadel. Afterward, you’ll have free time to keep exploring or, if booked in advance, to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain.

In the afternoon, we return to Aguas Calientes to board the train to Ollantaytambo, followed by private transport to Cusco, arriving at night.
