The hike to Perolniyoc Waterfalls and the archaeological site of Raqaypata is one of the most beautiful and least-visited routes in the Sacred Valley. Perfect for travelers seeking nature, history, and tranquility in a single day, this tour takes you to an impressive waterfall surrounded by Andean vegetation and to an Inca site perched on top of a mountain, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
Surrounded by ancient Inca trails and local communities, this route is ideal for a moderate-level hike that blends living culture, archaeology, and direct contact with nature.
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Ollantaytambo or Cusco at 7:00 a.m. and drive to the community of Soqma, located at 3,200 m.a.s.l., where we will begin our hike.
The first section is an uphill walk of about 1 hour to the stunning Perolniyoc Waterfalls, with a drop of over 60 meters. We’ll pause here to rest, take in the scenery, and capture photos.
We then continue climbing for another 30–40 minutes to reach the archaeological site of Raqaypata, an ancient Inca administrative and ceremonial center that overlooks the valley. Your guide will explain its history and strategic role in the Qhapaq Ñan network.
After exploring the site, we’ll enjoy a box lunch in a natural setting before beginning our descent back to Soqma, where our transport will be waiting. We’ll return to Ollantaytambo or Cusco around 3:30 p.m.
