The Sacred Valley of the Incas tour invites you to explore some of the most important archaeological and cultural centers of the ancient Inca Empire. On this full-day experience, you will visit the traditional towns of Pisac and Ollantaytambo, where Inca structures, artisan markets, and living traditions still showcase the Andean heritage at its finest.
During the journey, you will enjoy breathtaking views of the valley, ancient agricultural terraces, stone temples, and water channels that still function today. You will also learn about the Andean worldview and daily life of the ancient Incas, thanks to the explanations of a professional guide. This is the perfect excursion for those who want to connect history, culture, and landscapes all in one day.
The tour begins early in the morning, around 8:00 a.m., with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We travel northeast, enjoying the beautiful Andean landscape until we reach the town of Pisac, famous for its archaeological complex that extends over the top of a mountain. There, you can explore temples, agricultural terraces, and Inca tunnels that reveal the site’s strategic and spiritual importance.
After the archaeological visit, we descend to the town of Pisac, home to one of the most colorful artisan markets in the Sacred Valley. You will have free time to explore, shop for handicrafts and textiles, and enjoy the traditional atmosphere of the place.
We then continue our journey toward the heart of the valley, stopping for lunch at a tourist restaurant (lunch not included), usually in the Urubamba area. Afterward, we head to the impressive Ollantaytambo complex, an ancient living Inca city whose streets preserve their original layout, and whose fortress is one of the finest examples of Inca military architecture.
The visit to Ollantaytambo will allow you to explore temples, ceremonial enclosures, and terraces that dominate the valley from above. From this point, those continuing to Machu Picchu can board the train directly (optional), or return with the group to Cusco, arriving at approximately 6:30 p.m.
